His Dark Materials - the graphic novels

In 2014 the French publishing company Gallimard, which locally owns Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials rights, announced the adaptation of the trilogy as a series of graphic novels. The first book of the series, Northern Lights, would consists into three parts, with drawings by Clément Oubrerie and adapted story by Stéphane Melchior. It was later announced that The Subtke Knife would require three more books and The Amber Spyglass four, possibly.

The first two parts of The Subtle Knife were published between November 2018 and January 2021 in France with drawings from French artist Thomas Gilbert.

So far, the Northern Lights graphic novels were partly or fully published in Germany (Carlsen), Italy (Salani), Spain (Norma), Denmark (Cobolt), Sweden (Kartago) but also in the United-Kingdom (Doubleday), the United States (Knopf), South Korea (f_books) and the Netherlands (Sherpa). Translations for The Subtle Knife were also published in Canada, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Sweden, UK and USA.

As of January 2023, the adaptation of The Amber Spyglass is not planned (yet?).
